UAV design

Design and development of a surveillance drone

A quadcopter UAV for real-time aerial monitoring, combining GPS waypoint navigation with an FPV camera link, balanced around the centre of gravity.

The requirement

The problem this answered.

Real-time aerial monitoring needs stable flight, dependable positioning and a video link that stays usable at range — three requirements that pull against each other in the mass budget.

Constraints and operating environment: Outdoor flight with live downlink to a ground station.

Vebix scope

What we did.

A quadcopter UAV was designed for real-time aerial monitoring and inspection. The platform combined brushless motors, ESCs, a flight controller, GPS-based position tracking, and waypoint navigation.

An FPV camera system was integrated for live video to the ground station. Battery, camera, and telemetry placement were balanced around the centre of gravity, and testing addressed stability, control response, transmission quality, interference, latency, and vibration.
