UAV design

Development of 7-inch and 5-inch drones

A comparison build of 5-inch and 7-inch multirotor platforms, trading agility against endurance through propulsion matching and centre-of-gravity optimisation.

The requirement

The problem this answered.

Agility and endurance are opposing goals in a multirotor. Building both classes made the trade measurable instead of theoretical.

Constraints and operating environment: Comparative flight testing of both airframes.

Vebix scope

What we did.

This project developed and compared 5-inch and 7-inch multirotor platforms. The 5-inch platform focused on agility, rapid response, and high-speed manoeuvres, while the 7-inch platform was optimised for efficiency, endurance, and payload-carrying stability.

Propulsion selection, motor-propeller matching, and centre-of-gravity optimisation were central considerations. Flight-time, responsiveness, and stability testing informed subsequent design refinements.
