Summary
Vebix Automation LLP is seeking a Drone Engineer to work on the design, assembly, integration, simulation, testing and deployment of unmanned aerial systems for government, defence, research and industrial applications. The role spans multirotor, fixed-wing and VTOL aircraft and covers the complete development cycle rather than a single subsystem. If you have built and flown your own aircraft and want to take UAV platforms from concept through to reliable flight, we would like to hear from you.
Description
Vebix Automation LLP is a Pune-based MSME and DPIIT-recognised startup working in defence, industrial automation, embedded electronics, underwater systems, drones, robotics, data-acquisition systems, cable assemblies and indigenous product development.
The Drone Engineer builds and integrates multirotor, fixed-wing and VTOL aircraft: selecting and integrating motors, ESCs, batteries, sensors, communication systems and payloads, configuring and tuning Pixhawk-class flight controllers with ArduPilot or PX4, and running the flight-control, mission and system simulations that the build is checked against. Ground and flight testing follow, along with the troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical and software faults that testing turns up.
Prototypes are carried from concept to reliable flight by the engineer who built them. That is a large amount of ownership for one role, and it comes with a corresponding responsibility for reliability, safety and compliance with the mission requirements the aircraft is being built to meet.
Minimum qualifications
- Zero to three years of experience with drones. Fresh graduates with demonstrable build and flight experience are considered.
- Drone assembly and integration, including motors, ESCs, batteries, sensors, power systems and payloads.
- Configuration and tuning of Pixhawk-class flight controllers with ArduPilot or PX4.
- UAV communication protocols, including MAVLink, CAN, UART, I²C, SPI and PWM.
- Programming in Python, C++ or Embedded C.
- Control systems, sensors and state estimation.
- Simulation and modelling in tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Gazebo, ANSYS or SolidWorks.
- Mission planning, telemetry and payload integration.
Preferred qualifications
- Drones designed, built and flown personally, and participation in UAV competitions or student projects.
- VTOL, fixed-wing or hybrid platforms.
- Autonomous navigation and computer vision.
- ROS or ROS 2.
- Government or defence UAV projects.
- Familiarity with aerospace standards.
Tell us what you have built. For this role a photograph of an airframe you designed, or a log from a flight you tuned, says more than a list of tools on a CV; there is a question on the form for exactly that.
Submit an application
Everything we would otherwise have to write back and ask for is on this form, so a complete application can be read the day it arrives. Attach your CV and send it.
