How to choose GPS and RTK

Standard GPS, RTK or dual-antenna heading

Standard GNSS is enough for most flying. RTK is for mapping, precision landing and anything that must repeat a line to centimetres. Dual-antenna heading removes the compass, which helps near steel and power lines.

Base and rover

RTK needs corrections: from your own base receiver on the ground, or from a network service where one covers your site. A rover without corrections is only as accurate as a standard receiver.

Primary and secondary receivers

A secondary GPS gives the autopilot a second position source; it does not make either receiver more accurate. Check that your autopilot has a second GPS port or CAN bus for it.

Questions buyers ask

Does every module here give RTK accuracy?

No. The M9N and M10 modules are standard GNSS receivers. RTK needs an F9P, UM982 or mosaic-H class receiver and a source of corrections. The filter on this page separates them.
